Martial Arts Programs for Local Schools
As a martial arts school serving children and young people we believe it makes sense for the Kung Fu Schools to participate in the Governments ‘Every Child Matters’ framework.
Our Kung Fu lessons are a lot more than ‘just punching and kicking’ and we try to help incorporate positive attitudes from a very early age. Our students are introduced to ‘Black Belt’ traits that encourage good citizenship.
As part of the ‘Every Child Matters’ framework we can help young people:
- Be healthy
- Stay safe
- Enjoy and achieve
- Make a positive contribution
- Achieve economic well being
Whilst some are more difficult for us to help with than others, we strongly believe that we can help with all five proposed outcomes, helping children stay safe and achieve what they want in life.
The martial arts differ from many of the mainstream activities in their approach to both the physical and mental development of the student. We want to create great martial artists who act with responsibility and become a positive member of the community.
Our lessons will cross over into P.S.H.E as we discuss with students the benefits of a healthy lifestyle, how to set SMART goals, anti-bullying and staying safe (in the real world and online).
Had done other Kung Fu for several years. Saw an advert for WT and went along. Loved the logic and simplicity, the sheer effectiveness of the Leung Ting Kung Fu system. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed, there is a good sense of family and belonging. I have been a private student of Sifu Hawkes since 2001 and I am still enjoying the challenge of attaining his level of expertise.
Kung Fu lessons are taught to children aged 4 and above and we divide the classes into the Little Dragons (reception and year one) and the Junior Class which takes the student right through to the adults classes.
For our Little Dragons our emphasis is placed on developing the listening and gross motor skills necessary to progress into the junior class. This is taught using a variety of martial art exercises typically delivered in fun and game like format.
Our Junior Class builds upon those skills learnt as a Little Dragon and they must develop self-control and discipline in order to participate in partner drills. The Junior Class learn a condensed version of our adult’s syllabus and is designed to challenge them physically and intellectually.
We are happy to discuss your school needs and requirements with you in order to create a course that can deliver a new and positive experience to your students.
